SEPT 16 - Hey Challenge - Empathy Session

from $0.00

For our Hey Challenge this month, happening on September 16, HeyDay Network invited Melody Song and Nikolina Romana Milunovic from Do Good Here to host an Empathy Session. This will be a workshop to practice Open Space Technology (OTC) with a focus on Diversity and Inclusion.

Empathy, the capacity to place oneself in another person's shoes, is the key skill that we need to foster an inclusive and open culture. This interactive workshop helps to achieve deeper understandings amongst group members and facilitate conversations one at a time on issues unique to the participants including, diversity, equity, and access.

What happens at the workshop
At the Empathy Session, you will take part in collective learning and community problem-solving. In each session, you will be guided through an empathy exercise or dialogue focused on exploring the identities of each other and how they inform our perspective. The group will brainstorm pivotal IDEA topics and set the focus on what counts most to them. Building on this, we form peer circles to further the conversation on each identified topic. Each member contributes their insights and learns from others as they uncover hidden problems and explore actionable solutions in a peer-supported space. Lastly, we transition into a group sharing circle to present learnings to each other.

After the activities, we will be asking the group (presumably experienced designers) to give us feedback on their experience at this workshop likes and dislikes and ideas, etc.
